What year was my house built
What year was my house built?
There is no obvious system where you can quickly check the year your house was built, but you can carry out some searches to give you an idea.
Our first advice would be to carry out census searches for that address and when you don't find the address in a specific census decade then you have an idea how old it is. An additional search would be to check your deeds to find the earliest date for the historical dates mentioned on your register or deeds. For example, you could see a date of 1921 and the census records only show for your address up to that period. That sort of confirms the year your house was built.
To search census we would recommend Findmypast (just google Findmypast free trial) Findmypast have earlier census records. There are also free options with other sites (google free census records), however, they may not go as far back. Findmypast also has historical electoral rolls. Click here to signup for findmypast
if you do not have the deed information then you may order a copy of the title register from the land registry website. Click here to order from the land registry website. If there are 2 options for your address (freehold) and leasehold) then choose leasehold.
If you would like us to undertake this search for you to find out how old your house is please order below. Thank you.
